Fancy Boys Football Week 2 NFL Mailbag

Fancy Boys Football Week 2 NFL Mailbag

Fancy Boys founder Matt Drufke doesn’t know anything about football. Lucky for him, Brandon Andreasen and Jack Baker do.

Each week, Matt emails Brandon and Jack NFL questions, they then immediately go and make fun of his lack of knowledge in a secret group chat. They then go and answer the questions. Here are those answers.

MLB’s Cy Young Award Nominees and…

With only a tad over two weeks left in the regular season and the pitchers having two, maybe three, starts remaining for each of them, it’s time to take a look at who could drop the Cy Young Award onto their mantel.

First, a little bit about the man. Cy Young, adopted by poor Chinese immigrants and christened Egg Foo Young… hold on, wrong source. Let’s try that again. Cy Young, was born Denton True Young – seriously, his middle name was ‘True’ – in 1867. He threw the pill for the following teams:

Fancy Boys Go To The Movies: The Farewell

Fancy Boys Go To The Movies: The Farewell

This is the period in the cinematic year when studios stop sending us their blockbusters (how they make their money) and get ready to start sending us their Oscar bait (how they feel good about themselves). Both now, and in the spring when the same thing happens in reverse order, can be a feast or famine for a film that the studio doesn’t know exactly how well it could do. Sometimes, a film can find the right audience and become a massive and unlikely hit. More likely, a film can get lost and not find the audience it deserves.

I hope The Farewell finds the audience that it deserves, because it’s one of the best movies of the year.

Fancy Boys NFL Power Rankings Week 2

Fancy Boys NFL Power Rankings Week 2

32 teams started their season this week. 31 team will continue on, while the Miami Dolphins are getting immediately relegated to the Big East conference, where they will play University of Connecticut and Syracuse, and probably lose to the University of Pittsburgh.
Some things were expected, like the Chiefs winning and Jameis Winston being terrible. Elsewhere, the Chargers and Seahawks escaped with victories, while the Jaguars lost their quarterback, the Giants unfortunately still have theirs, and the Cardinals and Lions took turns trying to prove who deserved to win less. Let’s get into it!

Cannabis Corner: Rick Simpson Oil – Snake Oil or Medical Miracle?

rick-simpson-oil-and-medical-marijuana-dispensarie

I decided to do my follow up piece to the first Cannabis Corner about Rick Simpson Oil. This was selfish decision because I wanted to learn more about it and none of you had asked me any questions yet. So I set out to dive into this subject yesterday. And I am disappointed to report back that that Rick Simpson himself is a total nut job and digging into the subject was actually exhausting.

America’s Best Pastime: Position Players 2019

To start, baseball still is “America’s Best Pastime.” Football is “America’s Biggest Obsession.” Now that I have you sports fanatics all in a lather, especially those of you who prefer to crush heads over crushing baseballs, I’m going to drag you deep into the depths of my MVP opinions, ones that I hold as close to my person as a pitcher does his glove when he’s talking to his catcher.

I could’ve just written “MLB League MVPs” and be done with it, but the word ‘position’ will become key. I’m also going to run through this starting with the senior circuit, the National League. Continue reading “America’s Best Pastime: Position Players 2019”

The Out Comes in Threes (or) Why More Home Runs Are A Bad Thing

The Out Comes in Threes (or) Why More Home Runs Are A Bad Thing

Back in the formative years of my youth, the long ball was king. In 1998, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa broke the then-thought-unbreakable record of 61 home runs, with Ken Griffey Jr. not far behind. The next year, they both did it again. In 2001, Barry Bonds hit seventy-fucking-three of ’em. It was exciting, actually. In the latter half of the 2010’s, more home runs are being hit than at the peak of the “steroid era”, but is that a good thing?
