Fancy Boys Club March Music Madness 2023: The Grace (2000-2002) and Drummond Regions (2006-2008)

Four Fancy Boys Club writers- Matt Drufke, Brandon Andreasen, Michael Grace and Jake Drummond- each chose 16 songs from their first two years of high school that had a profound impact on them. From there, the March Music Madness bracket was born.

We locked in our Sweet 16 last week. Wednesday and Thursday, it’s Round 4 as we will do two regions a day. You can vote at our Facebook or our Twitter or at the polls at the bottom of this page.

We wish the best of luck to all the challengers.

As our two young men who went to high school entirely in the 21st century battle on, we’ve had a lot of chalk. Before we vote, let’s see who is left and how we got there.

The Grace Region

Lose Yourself- Eminem

SEEDING: #1
PATH TO THE ELITE 8: This was never in doubt. Wins over (16) “What’s Golden”- Jurassic 5 and (8) “Crazy In Love”- Beyonce led to a round 3 win over (4) “Numb”-Linkin Park, 77%-23%.

Work It- Missy Elliott

SEEDING: #3
PATH TO THE ELITE 8: Missy proved herself a dominant competitor, beating (14) “Welcome To Atlanta”- Jermaine Dupri and a very close win over (6) Sweetness- Jimmy Eat World. Ms. Elliott got a nice round 3 win against the underdog (15) “Seven Nation Army”- The White Stripes, 62%-38%.

The Drummond Region

Welcome To The Black Parade- My Chemical Romance

SEEDING: #1
PATH TO THE ELITE 8: There’s a reason Jake had this as his #1 seed… this track knew how to beat all comers. Rounds 1 & 2 had easy wins against (16) “Thrash Unreal”- Against Me! and (9) “When You Were Young”- The Killers. It’s place in the Elite 8 was solidified with a victory over (12) “Dashboard”- Modest Mouse, 71%-29%.

Rehab- Amy Winehouse

SEEDING: #2
PATH TO THE ELITE 8: Just as strong as the top seed was Jake’s second seed. It has dominated all comers with early round wins over (15) “The Diary Of Jane”- Breaking Benjamin and (7) “Low”- Flo Rida. And round three was just as easy, knocking out (11) “The Pretender” Foo Fighters, 67%-33%.

There we have it. Vote! Share! And we’ll see you Sunday for results!
