The Brooklyn basketball team was eliminated today. Though they were without their biggest stars, they fought to the bitter end. We extinguish their flame for now, with a poem.
We Have Shown Ourselves True
In days of coming resolution
In weeks of solitude we wait
In years of hellish restitution
In time, we pray we are not late
In seconds, everything can shift us
In minutes, plans crumble from their weight
In hours, counting all our misses
In time, we pray we are not late
We are here among the glories
Of days gone by, renewed
We were David, sans a slingshot
Yet we have shown ourselves true
